The 1st Annual MGL Wealth Management Charity Golf Day, took place at Headlam Hall on Friday 6th April 2018. Teams were competing to lift the prestigious trophy! There were prizes for closest to the pin, longest drive as well as a double your money competition and fines (suggested charity donation) for those hitting their ball in to the water on the Par 3.
Teams met at 10:00am for bacon sandwiches and tee off with a shot gun start at 10:45am. After completing 18 holes of golf, players enjoyed a two-course meal. After, the meal there was a draw to win a 6 months golf membership (value circa £200), which was kindly donated by Headlam Hall.
MGL Wealth Management support Darlington Harriers in their fund-raising activities to raise much needed funds for Children with Cancer UK. The Harriers hold several events throughout the year including a Charity Ball and 5km Race as well as a team of athletes from the run the London Marathon.
Last year, company Director, Barry Talman (2h:59mins), his wife Louise (3h:01mins) and Practice Manager, Andrew Park (3h:08mins) were heavily involved in fund raising activities and ran the London Marathon achieving fantastic times.
In 2017 the Harriers helped raised more than £7,800, plus gift aid and we are hoping to help raise more funds this year with the introduction of our Charity Golf Day.
Barry said: “Myself, my wife Louise and Andrew my Practice Manager are members of Darlington Harriers and we have been involved in assisting Darlington Harriers with their fundraising activities for a few years now. We thought it would be a great idea to host a golf day to help try and raise more funds for the Children with Cancer UK charity. Last year, we all ran the London Marathon and it was a fantastic experience!"
In 2018, Darlington Harrier ran in the London Marathon for Children with Cancer UK including: Barry Talman, Louise Talman, Paul Cook, Paul Allan, Shaun Marshall, Karl Hume, Peter Armstrong, Jeff Miller and MGL Wealth Management client Justin Hindmarch.
